Shell Scripting Labs worked well

Signed up for the Shell Scripting Labs. Interface was clean. Labs ran without issues. Completed them quickly. Got what I needed. No complaints.

Great value for Python labs

As a first-time user, I was looking for something affordable to brush up on Python. I got the Python Programming Labs during a seasonal promotion, and it was a really good deal. The annual subscription was much cheaper than paying monthly, which saved me a good chunk of money. The labs were well-structured and easy to follow. It felt like I got a lot of content for what I paid. Definitely worth the purchase if you're on a budget.

Good content, but website can lag

I recently bought the DevOps Learning Path. The content was pretty solid and the labs were really interactive, which made understanding concepts like Jenkins CI/CD much easier than just reading about them. I appreciated the hands-on approach; it felt like I was actually doing real work. Delivery was instant since it's all online, obviously. My main criticism is that sometimes the virtual lab environment itself felt a bit slow to respond, especially during peak hours. It wasn't a deal-breaker, but it did break my flow a couple of times. Customer service was responsive when I had a question about a specific lab error message. Overall, good value for the price if you're patient with occasional tech hiccups.

Loved the Cybersecurity Labs!

I just finished the Cybersecurity Labs and I'm so happy with my experience! The penetration testing modules were incredibly engaging, and I learned so much more than I expected. The virtual environments were realistic and challenging in a good way. It was a fantastic way to get practical experience without setting up my own complex lab. I'm already planning to try the AWS Cloud Labs next. I'm telling all my friends who want to learn cybersecurity about this platform; it's just what I needed!

Anyone know if LabEx is better than TryHackMe for learning security? Or like, what's the difference if I'm trying to get into pentesting?

A Amber 2 months ago
TryHackMe is more gamified for pentesting, but LabEx has some really good deep dives into network security and actual vulnerabilities. Depends if you want more structured learning or capture-the-flag style.

I've used both. For structured learning paths and understanding underlying concepts, LabEx is strong. TryHackMe is great for getting hands-on with specific tools and challenges.

Are new labs added often? Don't want to run through everything and then just have old content.

A Alex Brooks 1 month ago
From what I've seen, they update fairly regularly. Especially for trending stuff like new AWS services or programming languages.

They add new stuff pretty often, yeah. I got an email last month about some new AI/ML labs being released.

Thinking of signing up for the annual plan. Are there usually any coupon codes floating around for that, or is the built-in discount the best I'll get?

P Priya 2 months ago
Mostly the built-in annual discount is the main deal, I think. That's how I got mine.

They do have seasonal sales sometimes, like around Black Friday, that might stack or be even better. But usually, the annual commitment discount is already pretty decent by itself.

Hey, wondering if LabEx is any good for real-world DevOps stuff. Or is it more for total beginners?

W Wendy W. 2 months ago
Nah, it's pretty solid for DevOps. I've used their Kubernetes and Ansible labs, and they get into some deep configurations. Not just surface level stuff.

Yeah, a lot of the labs are pretty legit. I used their CI/CD labs to prep for an interview and it definitely helped. It's not just basic 'hello world' kind of exercises.

If I get the Pro subscription, do they give you those completion certificates? My employer is asking for proof of learning.

G Gwen Osei 2 months ago
Yeah, they do. I got one for a Python course.

You get a certificate for completing certain paths or labs, I think mostly with the Pro plan. It's good for showing off skills to employers.

I'm a student, is there any special discount for that? Or just the regular annual deals?

A Anna N. 2 months ago
They usually have a student discount. Check their FAQ or contact support, I remember seeing something about it.

R Ryan 1 month ago
Yeah, they definitely offer one. I applied for it last year, you just need to verify your student status somehow. Got a pretty good chunk off.

Can I use the labs on my iPad? Or do I need a full computer for it?

L Laura Beaumont 2 months ago
Totally usable on a tablet, it's all browser-based. I use it on my Surface Pro all the time.

T Tara 2 months ago
Yeah, I've done some labs on my iPad. It works, but a keyboard makes it way easier for coding and command line stuff.
